Product Description

Dedicated Bus Lanes are a win for everyone: more transit choice, better traffic flow, and they help clean up America’s backyard. But the typical bus lane is just a line on the road. It requires strict police enforcement to be of any use, because cars aren’t prevented from using it to pass slower traffic. This endangers pedestrians, buses, and the cars themselves. Dedicated Bus Lanes are common in Europe and becoming more common in the States. But installing concrete curbs to create those dedicated lanes is complicated: close the roads, hire a crew, install a ton of concrete curbs, then constant maintenance until it crumbles so much you need to start from scratch.

RubberForm’s Dedicated Bus Lane Curbs outperform and outlast any alternative. They won’t chip, warp, or spall. They’re simple to install, remove, or relocate as needed. This is especially helpful for dedicated bus lanes that need to change to accommodate new traffic patterns. They require little to no maintenance, and they’re fully modular: if for some unthinkable reason one section fails, it’s easy to replace.

Our curbs are made from heavy-duty 100% American recycled composite material. That means it’s designed to endure heavy traffic, searing heat, frigid cold, and extreme weather: wind, rain, ice, and snow.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

What color stripes do you have for your Bus Lane Curb?

We have white and yellow where we use a glass beaded thermoplastic that is burned into position, the same thermoplastic material municipalities use on their roadways. If at any time a piece wears or breaks off, burn a new stripe in place, right onsite.

What are other uses for your Bus Lane Curbing?

Our municipal customers have used it for bike lane curbs as well as a delineator curb with flexible road posts. Some of our commercial customers have used it for delineation in parking lots.

How do you mount on a municipal street?

We have a few mounting kit systems for our Bus Lane curb depending on the environment. Lag bolts, shields and washers with rubber caps in Stainless steel, zinc plated or special 2-part epoxy mounting system. Each Bus Lane curb has 3 mounting positions, connected with our universal dog bone. Our End cap, has 2 mounting positions, connected with our universal dog bone to hold straight and in position.

I have not seen these bus lane curbs in America, where have they been used?

RubberForm developed this bus lane in 2019 for the City of Indelopis INDYGO Redline. We designed, engineered, built a mold and delivered 7,000 curbs in less than 5 months. We made the delivery however the contractor did not follow our specific mounting instructions and the curbs failed. IndyGo as well as the contractor did not allow our engineering team to fully engineer this first release for IndyGo’s Redline. Since 2019 we engineered it right and we now have a dedicated bus lane curb ready for deployment. Proper mounting hardware is needed to hold in position to withstand the punishment of municipal traffic. Strategically placed in road reflectors and flexible road post are needed as well to warn oncoming traffic, Bus Lane curbs are in use.
