Product Description

Dedicated Bus Lanes are a win for everyone: more transit choice, better traffic flow, and they help clean up America’s backyard. But the typical bus lane is just a line on the road. It requires strict police enforcement to be of any use, because cars aren’t prevented from using it to pass slower traffic. This endangers pedestrians, buses, and the cars themselves. Dedicated Bus Lanes are common in Europe and becoming more common in the States. But installing concrete curbs to create those dedicated lanes is complicated: close the roads, hire a crew, install a ton of concrete curbs, then constant maintenance until it crumbles so much you need to start from scratch.

RubberForm’s Dedicated Bus Lane Curbs outperform and outlast any alternative. They won’t chip, warp, or spall. They’re simple to install, remove, or relocate as needed. This is especially helpful for dedicated bus lanes that need to change to accommodate new traffic patterns. They require little to no maintenance, and they’re fully modular: if for some unthinkable reason one section fails, it’s easy to replace.

Our curbs are made from heavy-duty 100% American recycled composite material. That means it’s designed to endure heavy traffic, searing heat, frigid cold, and extreme weather: wind, rain, ice, and snow.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Can I install delineator posts on top of your Bus Lane, Bike Lane, or Street Defender Curb?

Yes, we offer a mounting system that allows a delineator post to be installed on top of any of our curb center sections for added visibility, just ask.

Are your Bus Lane, Bike Lane, and Street Defender Curbs truly made in the USA?

We are the only true U.S. manufacturer of recycled curb systems. We source all our recycled materials domestically, which means we're helping clean up our backyard. We also design and manufacture all our products right here in Western New York, because we believe in American ingenuity and hardworking American hands.

What color stripes can I order for your Bus Lane, Bike Lane, or Street Defender Curb?

We have white, yellow, or green glass-beaded (retro-reflective) thermoplastic stripes that we burn into position. These are made from the same thermoplastic material municipalities use on their roadways. If at any time a piece wears or breaks off, call us for a kit and burn a new stripe in place, right onsite.

Are your Bus Lane, Bike Lane, and Street Defender Curbs the same product?

Yes, they are the same physical product that can be used for different applications. All three prevent vehicles from unsafely crossing delineated areas.

How do you mount your curbs?

We offer lag bolts, shields, and washers with rubber caps for mounting (we can also offer a stainless steel lag bolt if needed, as well as 2-part epoxy). Each center section has 4 mounting positions and each end cap has 3 mounting positions, both connected with our universal dog bone. Our curbs are not made for mooring spikes, and using them will void the warranty.

Do US cities actually use dedicated bus or bike lanes?

Yes! Though it is still more common in Europe, cities like San Francisco, Addison, TX, Carson, CA, and even government departments like the Delaware DoT have all started using our Bus and Bike Lane Curbs to safely delineate bus and bike lanes. We're also seeing more cities like Compton, CA use our Street Defender Curbs to prevent “street takeovers” and “sideshows”.

What are the dimensions of your curb systems?

Our Bus Lane, Bike Lane, and Street Defender Curbs have identical dimensions: modular 3.5” high x 14” wide x 40” long center section that can be connected together to fit your application. End cap sections have the same height and width, but are 14” long.
