THE SITUATION
The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) had a problem: whenever the San Francisco 49ers had a game at their new Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, they had to run specific trains on a changed schedule. There was a surge of new mass transit riders and no good way to quickly route them to the trains they needed.
A Quick-Deploy Cuing System
The VTA Transit Authority needed a cueing system to direct mass transit riders to the right mass transit trains. But this system had to be easy to deploy and just as easy to tear down so the regular train schedule could run unimpeded.
Our Innovation
RubberForm worked with the designers at the IBI Group and developed a quick deployable mass transit cueing system: we used our Sign Bases with Base Weights, custom fabricated galvanized round metal sign posts, a quick disconnect system for attaching the sign posts together, reflective sign banners, and bungle cords to attach the signs to the 8-foot sign posts. RubberForm also fabricated a Sign Base Cart to move the 150 pounds’ Sign Base System. No large crews or special training needed.
It Worked
Our quick deployable sign banner system for the Santa Clara VTA was first used during the preseason game against Denver at Levi’s Stadium, helping 70,000 fans safely reach their destination. It’s been used successfully since then, including for Super Bowl 50.
